SEMINAR
Carburettor Technician
Carburettor Technician
KEK10 Lifelong Learning Centre, a Lifelong Learning Centre certified by the National Organisation for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP) and the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports (certification code:2100427), runs seminars for experienced vehicle technicians to obtain the Carburettor Technician licence.
The programme is designed to cover systematically the technical subject of the specialty recognised by Law 1575/1985 (Government Gazette A’ 207/11.12.1985) and the exam syllabus specified in Ministerial Decision 73102/715/1988 (Government Gazette B’ 302/19.05.1988), as in force. The programme organises the official technical syllabus into modern teaching modules, with emphasis on the basic principles of thermodynamics, how petrol engines work, forming and adjusting the air–fuel mixture, the construction and operation of carburettors, their individual circuits, and inspection, maintenance and fault diagnosis.
Who It Is For
The programme is for employees and professionals in vehicle workshops, car, motorcycle and moped technicians, people with related work experience, and anyone who wants organised training in this specialty and, where the legal conditions are met, to use the relevant certificate in the administrative procedure for notifying the start of professional practice.
Programme Cost
The programme costs €350.
Documents required for issuing the licence to practise
- Copy of Police Identity Card or Passport
- e-Fee €29.50 (Code 8252)

Thematic module 2: Pressure – Temperature – Heat – Basic Principles of Thermodynamics
Thematic module 3: Petrol – Combustion – Four-Stroke and Two-Stroke Petrol Engines
Thematic module 4: Carburettor: Basic Operating Principles – Venturi – Bernoulli
Thematic module 5: Construction and Main Parts of the Carburettor – Types of Carburettor
Thematic module 6: Mixture Formation – Air/Fuel Ratio – Operating Phases
Thematic module 7: Carburettor Circuits and Auxiliary Systems
Thematic module 8: Intake System – Air Filter – Intake Manifold
Thematic module 9: Inspection – Adjustment – Maintenance – Faults and Diagnosis
Thematic module 10: Applications – Review – Final Assessment
Expected Results
On successfully completing the programme, trainees will have the knowledge and practical skills needed to understand how petrol engines and carburettors work, recognising the main components and functional circuits of the carburettor. They will be able to understand the fuel–air mixture requirements under different engine operating conditions, carry out basic checks and the dismantling, cleaning, reassembly and adjustment of the carburettor, and identify possible causes of malfunctions from the engine’s symptoms.
They will also be able to apply safe practices when handling petrol, flammable vapours and fuel system components, contributing to the correct and safe maintenance and operation of the equipment.
Teaching Method and Material
The teaching approach combines theoretical presentation, technical drawings and diagrams, examples of real components, case studies, diagnostic scenarios, fault–cause matching exercises and self-assessment questions. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding the operating sequence rather than memorising individual components. Where numerical adjustment values are used, they must come from the specific manufacturer’s technical data.
Certificate of Attendance
After successfully completing the programme, a certificate of successful attendance/training of 100 hours in the specialty «Carburettor Technician» is issued, in line with the applicable institutional framework and the training provider’s procedures.
Important information about the professional licence
Note: The seminar certificate is not in itself a licence to practise and does not guarantee that one will be issued. The requirements are examined by the competent Regional Directorate of Transport on the basis of each candidate’s qualifications, previous experience and other documents.
Before registering, applicants are advised to confirm in writing with the competent office whether this training can be used in their personal file.
