Its goal is to provide theoretical and practical training for individuals interested in working in environments serving people with partial or total blindness, in the public or private sector.

Target Audience

This program is designed for the following broad groups of individuals:

  • For general education teachers in Primary and Secondary Education.
  • For special education teachers in Primary and Secondary Education.
  • For students of all disciplines.
  • For anyone interested in learning the writing and reading system for the blind and expanding their knowledge in this specific field, regardless of their professional activity.

Objective

The program has a total duration of 200 hours and aims to provide knowledge of the Braille code, theoretical and practical skills for writing and reading in Braille, and insights into specific issues concerning people with visual impairment.

Duration

The program has a total duration of 200 hours, is implemented over a period of 2 months, and corresponds to 10 ECVET credits.

Delivery Method

The educational design follows a methodology that supports Open and Distance e-learning. Teaching through an asynchronous distance learning system is primarily based on the asynchronous study of educational material and activity development, largely ensuring the autonomy of the learner.

The course modules are divided into theoretical and practical parts.

  • The theoretical part briefly includes historical information about Louis Braille, the Braille code and writing methods, assistive technologies for people with blindness, tactile and visual images, printing methods, and the various aspects of life for individuals with visual impairments in today’s society.
  • The practical part includes the Greek alphabet, numbers and numerical symbols, punctuation marks, and the English alphabet. Additionally, where deemed necessary, the rules of Braille writing are presented in detail. At the end of each module, practice exercises are provided, based on the content taught in the module, to ensure full comprehension.

Certificate of Completion

Upon completion of the program and provided there are no outstanding financial obligations, the trainee immediately receives a printed certificate of successful completion, accompanied by a Diploma Supplement.
