Counselling in Career and Professional Guidance: Preparation for Certification (B1) EOPPEP

KEK10 K.D.B.M., certified by the National Organization for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP) and the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports (certification code: 2100427), implements the seminar “Career Counseling and Vocational Guidance: preparation for the Certification (B1) EOPPEP”.

The programme aims at the certification of the participants as “Career Counsellor / Career Guidance Counsellor”, basic level B by E.O.P.P.E.P. (Government Gazette 617,t.b./14.02.2022, article 6).

Who it is addressed to

Candidates for inclusion in the Sub-register of Vocational Guidance Counselling Executives of level B (basic level) of the Hellenic Organization for Vocational Guidance Counselling (Government Gazette 617/14-02-2022, article 6) are required to have:

  • Any higher education qualification and
  • Certificate or Certificate of successful completion of a continuing vocational training programme compatible with the professional profile of the Career Counsellor/Vocational Guidance Counsellor implemented by a Lifelong Learning Centre (K.D.B.M.)”

The programme is designed and implemented by a certified Senior Level Consultant and is addressed to:

  • Interested candidates wishing to join the Sub-register B of Vocational Guidance Counselling Executives of non-formal education of the H.O.P.P.E.P., regardless of their field of study
  • Certified or non-certified Adult Educators
  • Adult Educator Candidates
  • Teachers of all levels
  • Second Chance School staff. IEK. KDVM, etc.
  • Graduates of Higher Education Institutions.

Objective

The programme of a total duration of 500 hours aims at the theoretical and practical training of people who are interested to be certified as “Career Counsellor / Vocational Guidance Counsellor”, basic level B by the E.O.P.P.E.P. (Government Gazette 617,t.b./14.02.2022, article 6) and corresponds to 20 ECVET credits.

Duration

The programme has a duration of 500 hours and consists of:

  1. Theoretical training (300 hours), through modern and asynchronous training
  2. Practical training (200 hours).

The internship can be carried out at the following institutions: Services of the Ministry of Education, Liaison Offices of Universities and ASPAETE, EOPPEP, ELESYP, KEDASY, University Counselling Centres, Private Schools/Foundations, General Secretariat for Youth, INEDIBIM, Special School Units, D.Y.A., Services of the Ministry of Labour, Hospitals / Clinics / Health Centres, Medical and Educational Centres, Centres – Communities on Addiction, Institutions for the Protection of Minors & for Abused Persons, Mental Health Centres, Information and Support Centre for Older Persons (KEPYP), Social & Cultural Centres Counselling Services of Municipalities, KAPI, Private Counselling Offices/Counselling Centres, Counselling Services of the Archdiocese, Health and Welfare Supervision Centres, Institute of Mental Health for Children and Adults, in certified Lifelong Learning and Counselling Centres – such as KEK10 K.D.B.M., etc.

Expected Results

Having consistently followed the programme, trainees are expected to:

at Knowledge level to:

  • know how to deal with the concept, purpose, methodology and areas of application of the science of Career Counselling / Vocational Guidance,
  • know how to design and evaluate prevention and treatment interventions in education and beyond,
  • know how to use reputable psychometric tools, which will be made available to them in the creation of an Individual Professional Profile of both themselves and their “clients”.

at the Attitude level to:

  • are able to raise awareness of the value and necessity of Counselling to parents, teachers, guides of any level,
  • are sensitive to discerning specific problems and cultural parameters of students at risk of social exclusion and adopting appropriate counselling intervention on a case-by-case basis,
  • inspire confidence in the authority and scientific competence they possess as counselling professionals.

at the Skills level to:

  • apply the methods and techniques of counselling intervention on an individual and group level, especially the counselling interview,
  • diffuse elements of Counselling Psychology and Career Counselling in the teaching of their subjects,
  • identify in good time the signs of burnout and take the measures that will enable them to carry out their teaching role competently for the benefit of themselves and their pupils.

Implementation method

The training methodology follows the theory of Transformative Learning (J. Mezirow) of adult education.

At the same time, full educational support is provided since the trainee can address electronically (for the duration of the synchronous videoconference) the instructor, through an electronic communication system integrated in the platform, for the immediate resolution of questions related to the modules and assessment exercises or the final assignment.

The students in the opening meeting (first synchronous) are informed about the Educational Plan of the course and draw up together with the teacher the planned Learning Contract. Emphasis is placed on experiential learning through the study of real-life examples (case study).

In the following synchronous meetings, the students form and work in groups of two in order to practise psychological interviewing by acting as counsellor, counsellor and observer.

The distribution of the educational and support material is done gradually and on a weekly basis.

Certificate of Attendance

Upon completion of the programme and provided that there is no financial obligation, the trainee immediately receives a certificate of successful completion of the programme in paper form, accompanied by a Supplement of Studies.
